What I got for valentines day - Olivia Burton

This year I was truly spoilt for valentines! We usually dont do anything special or buy crazy gifts but this year George went a little crazy! He said he wanted to treat me as I never treat myself and he is proud of how hard I have been working. You will see a very clear theme here and that is BEES! I now own so many bee things our house is covered! I am not complaining as they are my fav.

The Olivia Burton watches are incredibly beautiful, I did have my eye on the one George bought for me for a while - It has a 3D square face which encapsulates the little golden bee complete with gold mesh strap. Super exited to wear this and it looks so lovely layered up with the dainty bee bracelet, you can see from the other close up photos the incredible attention to detail! swoooonnnn . The sweetest little ring which of course features a bee. He also picked up the little black and gold bee mirror, pineapple key chain and the adorable Bee jewellery box so I can keep all my bee treats safe.

I hope you all loved seeing these beautiful pieces, I am super excited to start wearing them, a big thank you to George!!
.
I also embroider and sell my own bee clothing/accessories which you can check out here.

DIY badge/pin Bag for a fraction of the price!

I think the badge, pin detailed bags are going to be a huge trend! They seem to be popping up everywhere. I recently bought the Bug cross body bag from Zara which you would of seen a little snap over on my Instagram. The good thing about this trend is that you can personalise with your own customisation, even if you buy a bag with badges already on like the ones below you can always add pins and badges to make the bag truly unique!

Bag pin bag - Zara interchangeable flap bag , Mustard Charm cross body bag - Zara, Badge detail black clutch - Topshop , Red insect detail bag- Zara , White badge detail coin bag - Topshop

To create my own I took a trip to primark to buy a plain black bag, you can buy new or use an old bag you want to revamp! I found this one which will be perfect as the material is soft and will be easy to pin, it is also a lovely size and has added chain detail on the strap! It was also super cheap at £7, they also had a selection of pin sets, I picked up one with a little pineapple and cacti but there was plenty to choose from. You can find such a wide selection of pins and badges , I especially like to shop on depop or etsy, just search for enamel pins or embroidered patches/badges.

I have a huge collection of vintage brooches which would add a personal touch to the bag and also make it appear a lot more expensive and unique. You can even stitch on charms and add chain detail.

Its simple! Its all about arranging your brooches, badges, patches how ever you like and over time you can change them up and add more. I Thought it might be cool to hunt down some letter charms in my initials or name to add too!

Let me know what you think of the badge/pin trend and if you are going to try this DIY

A summer picnic with Swig - picnic essentials

Summer means its picnic season!
I was kindly contacted by Swig flasks to see if I would like to review one of their hip flasks so
I have put together this post to share my picnic essentials and my thoughts on the flask.

1- A pretty picnic basket - I choose this Mini cool bag from Cath Kidston which was the perfect size for keeping the food fresh and came with two lunch boxes in the matching cloud print!

2- Food - I prepared a little paella to take in the lunch boxes filled with chicken, chorizo, prawns and vegetables. No picnic would be complete without strawberry's and cupcakes and for me my new favourite snack sweet and salty popcorn.

3- Drinks - Still lemonade is my favourite summer time drink along with a cheeky drop of gin! This is where the flask came in perfectly. I packed a bottle of the still lemonade and a flask of gin and it made for a refreshing and summery drink.

The flask
I choose the SWIG magnetic Executive Flask which came with the Naked swig flask and a blue leather sleeve which features a card slot and limited addition elephant print lining which is such a lovely detail, I also love that the flask came with its own number which is engraved onto the flask which invites you to join the swig society which makes it a little extra special. I think the flask would be a perfect gift! It came in a simple but sleek black box with turquoise ribbon and fabric lining there was also an option to add an engraved message which is a lovely touch to personalise your flask.

Thanks again to the team at swig,
I am sure my flask will enjoy may picnics and nights out with me!

Top 10 Spring Fashion Staples

Even though the weather here in the UK is still not great I have started to collect a few more pieces to add to my spring wardrobe! I've compiled a list of spring staples that I think are staples for this transition period into spring and through into summer!

1- Denim - Denim is a huge trend this spring with lots of raw distressed edges , frays and my favourite the button down skirt! I saw this A line button down mini in mid wash blue on ASOS I snapped it up ready for spring. I have worn it a few times already with tights and boots but im excited to style it for the warmer months with crops and chunky sandals.

Glitter Heeled Sandals  , Caged Similar  , Others from Primark

2- Chunky Sandals - I have quite the collection of chunky sandals these being my most recent and favourite buys, I feel they add a bit of an edge to any outfit I especially love the Glitter Heel on my New look pair!

3- Jewels - When wearing jewellery in spring I love to either layer up little charm style pendants or have one statment large necklace which looks great layered on top of a white tee!

4- Patterned Trousers - I have been buying lots of patterned trousers recently I found New look had such a lovely selection and at a great price, they are super flattering and easy to style as you can just throw on a basic tee, layer a leather jacket and some chunky sandals and you are good to go! Adding a bit of pattern to my wardrobe after a winter of monochrome basics wont go a miss either.

5- The leather Jacket- I think the leather jacket is really an all year round staple, I've had mine for years and it seems to just get better with age! Its great for spring as its quite light weight and good for layering but also adds a tough edge to any look.

6- The Basic Tee- I feel like I am forever on the hunt for the perfect white tee and FINALLY I think I have found it in the form of a TOPMAN White tee unlike any of the women's white t shirts I own this one isn't see through and doesn't go out of shape due to the heavier weight of fabric used, I picked a few up in a small and like the fit as its slightly oversized. Its also good to have a grey and black and a mix of crops for spring/summer which I usually pick up from H&M as they are super inexpensive!

7- Long Length Cardigans - I have a black, grey and a burgundy lightweight waterfall cardigan which is great for the warmer months as it adds a little warmth but also makes your outfit look really cute!

8- Skinny jeans - Really an all year round staple but the Topshop Joni Jean is my favourite looks great with a crisp white tee and chunky sandals.

9- Cropped jumpers- I still need to keep warm going in to spring so some cute little cropped jumpers are a great buy especially as they are all going into the sale as we move out of winter, I picked up two in H&M recently for £7 each! As I wear a lot of high waists the cropped jumper works really well.

10- T-shirt dresses - I really love the effortless look a t shirt dress gives in the spring/summer teamed with my favourite chunky sandals, lots of jewellery and a vintage bag! they are super versatile and can be layered up or worn on their own.

I hope you enjoyed this post :) I am looking forward to wearing more colour/pattern in the warmer months and hoping to have lots more fashion posts for the blog! Comment below with your spring staples!

Valentines Palm House

I thought I would share a couple of photos taken over valentines weekend, This is our seventh valentines together and our first as an engaged couple!
Over the valentines weekend we took a trip to Oxford mainly to visit the botanical gardens as I am starting to research for my next print collection, but also to roam the pretty streets of Oxford which are full of independent boutiques and cute little cake shops. The gardens are so pretty even at this time of year, the palm house was my favourite and as you can see from my photos it was pretty dreamy. I am excited to see how my lomography film has come out too!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend :)
